Question 16 - Holiday Q&A
What musical instrument have you always aspired to play?
Ladies also love to tickle the ivories... just in case you were wondering...<
Ann Douglas: The piano. I play it a bit, but not well. Of course, this could be because I stopped practicing in Grade 10.
Amber: I play the guitar (not terribly well) but when I was in second and third grade my mom made me take piano lessons. I hated it then and she always had to battle with me to get me to practice and finally she let me stop. She told me I would be sorry one day if I quit and you know, she was right.
Clickmom: piano (cause I can sing at the same time)
Charity: The Piano
DaniGirl: The piano and the saxophone.
Dawn: The Piano. I suffered the flute of 11 years and wished I could have played piano. Damn you, marching band!
Sour Duck: The piano. My answers are starting to bore even myself now.
Emily G: Piano. I do play viola and can sort of play violin still, but I've always wanted to play piano. Or drum set. I'd be the sexy drummer chick with perfect rhythm and no interest in any of the poor slobs who fell in love with me.
Baseballmom: Ummm, piano. My mom wanted us to take lessons and we said no. I regret it now!
Carmen: Either the violin or the piano - I've always wanted to pick them up and play gorgeous long sonatas. I could never be bothered to learn, though, since I'd have to start out with "Mary had a little lamb". And that's lame.
Jory: Piano!
EverydaySuperGoddess: Piano and violin.
Just Dawn: I ALWAYS wanted to play the piano. LOVE piano.
Justice: piano. (though i can play some notes)
Ms. Jen: Piano. Took lessons as a kid and can't play a thing. I love listening to someone playing the piano.
Sabrina: I play piano, love playing classical music.
Kris: The piano
Beth: The piano. I can torture a piano, but not play one.
I wanna be Bob Dylan... Mr. Jones wishes he was something just a little more funky...That means, the guitar..Guitar
Elisa Camahort: Guitar.
Jenijen: guitar
Jordana: Guitar -- not that I've ever tried or anything though. Lazy, lazy, lazy.
Sleepless Mama: I'm a guitar player, but I'm hopelessly out of practice now. I come from a long line of guitar players on my father's side. I wish I were better at it, but it's my own fault for not making the time to practice.
Lauren: Guitar. I've always entertained rock n' roll dreams.
Colin: the guitar.
la Mala: The guitar.
Meghan: The guitar, but I can't figure it out. Its different from the piano!
Lucinda: The guitar. Still aspire to play it, actually. Either that or the zither.
Horns. They sound great, don't they?
Susan: The fleugel horn. Just because it would be fun to say 'I play the flooooogel horn!'
Wind. Wind! Who's blowing like the wind?
Busy Mom: Flute"
Graceful: The flute. But I was 'forced' into learning the violin. I wanted to be in the marching band. And no violin has EVER been in the marching band, right?
Holli: The harmonica. It's portable, it's funk - and if you can do it up right.. it drives drunk people wild.
Percussion. Who doesn't look cool playing the drums.. Anyone.... Anyone??
hadashi: the drums, baby! got a set of bongos as a small child, made my parents crazy, and then had to settle for piano. i still think, however, if i were to be a rock star chick, i'd play the bass. that's way more badass.
Jenn: DRUMS! I could so rock it on a drum set. I still have that on my Christmas list. Still don't think I will get it though.
Karen: The steel pan -- and I'm taking lessons!
Jen Lawrence: I love handbells. It might be fun to play the drums -- seems like a good way to get out aggression.
Desperate To Be A Housewife: The Triangle....but I would have to practise A LOT!!!
Reeds. They might not LOOK sexy, but they SOUND sexy!
Erin: Tenor saxophone
mazeway: oboe. But noooo, I had to take stupid piano for 9 years.
Tonya: The bagpipes, accordion, or fiddle. (Maybe that helps clarify the “hip” question.)
Strings.. AAH, the strings.
Pamalamadingdong: cello OR piano
Jenny: Cello
Melanie Lynne Hauser: The Violin.
Sleeping Mommy: Cello. I played one in the fifth grade but my mom wouldn't let me sign up for orchestra again after I broke it. Broke the neck clean off.
Barbex: The bass. Always wanted to be a cool bad ass bass player.
Eulallia: The harp.
Kathyrn, the daring one: The Violin. I've already mastered the kazoo, the spoons, the "drums", the maracas, the piano, the recorder, the flute at a junior high level and 4 chords on the guitar. I should really start a Kindermusik program.
No, thanks. You do it.
Jelly: none. i tried flute and i sucked. i admitted defeat and moved on to knitting.
MoMMY: This would fall under the unable to do well category.

Why, the kazoo, of course. But seriously, I always wished I'd continued with those horrible piano lessons so today I could play really well.

My mom made me play the piano because it was her dream, but I really wanted to dance. Because I also sing, one or two years of piano was useful. But all those other years, when I should have been dancing, really set me back. I finally convinced her to let me switch, but I missed some vital dance training years. Am I the only person who actually regrets having taken all those piano lessons?
