In Praise of Sheryl

The Mommybloggers are serving up a stellar dish for you this week, served on a lovely paper napkin. Many of you may already be familiar with Sheryl, and for those of us who aren't, we are proud to introduce you to an incredible writer, and a blogger who has the chops.

Sheryl has been writing for her blog Paper Napkin for over two years now. In that time, she has developed a loyal following of readers. We love the humor, honesty, and candor that shines through in her writing. Sherly is a true talent who can write heart melting posts about her love for her children and the wistfulness of watching them grow up, and then she can turn around and give you the straight poop on what's not so pretty about motherhood. She writes about the exhaustion, the boredom, and the guilt of parenting with aplomb. She gives her readers the entire picture, and we love her for it. We could rattle off about a thousand things we admire about Sheryl, but we will put a sock in it, and let her readers get a few words in.

Jess counts the ways she adores Sheryl:

Gosh, I was first introduced to Sheryl by being her "Mystery Blog of the Day." We sort of chatted a bit after that and i became an avid fan of her and her blog. She is honest and forthright. Funny and endearing. And creative! The banners are fab. A Day In The Life is one of my very favourite things to read. I think Sheryl is awesome.

Jay Allen likes the surprise factor:

If the blogosphere had borders, Sheryl would be a national treasure. You can be reading one of her posts and think it's safe to cross the street - when suddenly, out of nowhere, her sardonic self comes barreling down in a semi-trailer and converts you to road pizza. Always a delight to read.

Susan is addicted to Sheryl's "day in the life" series:

Every month, Sheryl hosts the Day in the Life project at Paper Napkin, which is completely addicting. All of the posts (which she links at her site) are fun and interesting, but Sheryl's post always amaze me; she has the ability to describe the minutiae of her day in way that is touching and thought-provoking. Her posts always remind me that the micro and the macro of parenting are deeply intertwined.

Plus, she's really REALLY funny.

Erin finds inspiration in her honesty and ability to balance:

I really enjoy Sheryl's 'Day in the life' meme, as well as her down-to-earth writing style. I love reading how she balances her life, and feel better knowing that there are days when a veteran mom is just as ready to throw in the towel as I am.

I haven't been reading Paper Napkin for very long, but I really like it and look forward to hearing what Sheryl & crew are up to.

Erin garners strength from her posts:

Sheryl has one of my favorite blogs out there. She is honest and down-to-earth about her life, as well as being a talented writer and graphic designer. I always look forward to her beautiful new designs and seeing what's going on with her and her family. She's a great role model as a woman and a mother, and I derive strength from reading about her experiences. And you can tell her I said that!

Stay tuned for an interview with Sheryl later today, and an guest essay tomorrow!
