In Praise of Deborah Klosky

This week, Mommybloggers.com is thrilled to introduce you to Deborah Klosky. Deborah is one of our favorite writers on the 'web. With her sharp wit and natural comedic timing, Deborah tackles

hot topics and social trends with aplomb. Her intelligent commentary on everything from parenting to pop culture is always, well, Spot-On. Deborah elevates mommyblogging to new heights, injecting a journalistic sensibility into all of her pieces, while keeping her readers entertained. A visit to Deb's blog always leaves you thinking, and often leaves you reaching for the paper towels to clean the coffee off of your monitor after encountering one of her laugh-out-loud zingers.

As her editor, Chris Nolan notes:

I've known Deb for a long time, probably some 20 years. She's a talented reporter but she's also a very funny, very insightful observer of modern life. I asked her to join Spot-on - she was one of the first writers to come on the site - because I thought she'd provide an entertaining point of view on a range of topics that aren't often covered - raising kids, living in two cultures (Spain and the U.S.), being a feminist Mom - would be a great addition to the insightful writing and reporting here at Spot-on. I was right. Deborah's ability to hone in on the culture trend, the things everyone is thinking about her goofy, amusing and sensible way, is deadly accurate. She helps Spot-on live up to its name.

Donna Schwartz Mills really loves Deborah's perspective:

Deborah Klotsky is smart, insightful and funny. In fact, she is the kind of woman I would like to have for a friend -- which is true of all the blogging moms I read regularly. When she moved to Spain, I was afraid she would no longer write about things that are relevant to my life, but I was wrong. If anything, the distance has given her even more perspective on some of the weirder aspects of life for moms in these United States.

Jeanne Jackson, another of Spot-On's talented crew members, has this to say:

Deb faces motherhood with elegance and grace and a much-needed sense of humor. Besides that, she’s really, really smart, exemplified by the fact that she has never had to resort to Sponge Bob Squarepants references in anything she’s written. Deb lets us know it’s okay to retain your sense of self and still be a dedicated mom. Of course there is the guilt factor that, while I’m whining about teenagers picking up socks, Deb is simultaneously becoming fluent in another language, adjusting to life in another country and raising her kids. The show-off.

More importantly, you don’t have to be a mom or even a parent to enjoy Debs stuff.

We just adore Deborah Klosky - check back this afternoon to read our interview with this globe-trotting, multilingual, smart-as-a whip mama. We promise you'll love her, too!
