Summer Doledrums
Aaaaand...my excitement about summer has waned. I've got three kids at home, and they are bored. I am boring. And no amount of trips to the swimming pool, spur of the moment nacho parties, unrestricted playtime, movies, bike riding, art projects or story reading can cure it.
Wait, that's not right... I'm not boring. My kids just have too high of expectations. Yes, that's it.
I am certain this is karmic payback, as meted out in response to my own youthful declarations of summertime boredom. I am planning on warning my kids against this as soon as I'm done typing. Payback sucks.
That said, I have been spending a lot of hours on non-entertaining things. Laundry has been multiplying. Groceries disappear. Life goes on. And the days... they are like 500 hours long. By the time the sun goes down, and the last kid has been tucked in, I'm happy to just burrow under the covers and start snoring.
Maybe I am boring, after all.

Summer is weird. As a kid, you sooo look forward to it. Then, you're inexplicably bored. I used to ride my bike a lot. Go to day camp sometimes. But I hated it. Good luck!
