Yes! A post! A real live post! With links to some amazing mommybloggers.
It appears that even though this site has not been updated in....well, a long time....it is not dead. According to stats, hundreds of you continue to come here to see what's new. You've found a big fat bowl of nothingness. I am here to change that!
Behind the scenes I am ramping up to relaunch. (Interested? Email me and you can be a part of it!)
But, seeing as you are coming here looking for all things mommybloggers and/or momblogging, I wanted to give you something to do. So, while I am working behind the scenes, here are some excellent blogs you should check out. Now, before anyone bemoans that family cry, "These are the same blogs I always see!" just don't. Do you want me to link to your blog and talk about you? Leave me a comment and I'll do just that. Unless you suck. Then, well, it will all depend on how desperate I am for content.
I suppose I should re-introduce myself again. I am Jenn of Mommy Needs Coffee. I am the face behind the scenes here at Mommybloggers. Hop on over and check me out if you are so inclined. Now...
Let's start "old school" first. You know, those mombloggers who are sitting on their front porch with a hose yelling, "Get off of my lawn, you young whipper snapper!"
These are some of the first blogs I started reading back in the day. Back when the Interwebs were powered by monkey on bicycles.
There is of course, Busy Mom. As her name implies, she is a mom and she is busy. But more than that, she is funny. She is one of the nicest bloggers out there. She blogs for fun. She blogs for you. Yes, YOU. (No, not you, creepy dude in the corner. She asked me to tell you to stop Googling creepy terms to find her blog.) She is well known not because she is everywhere doing everything to get your attention, but because she is kind. She's been a good friend to me and a fantastic example of integrity in Momblogging.
If i am talking about old schoolers, I have to share with you Liz of This Full House. Now, don't let that whole Joisey thing put you off. Sure, she is hard to understand because face it, she tawks funny but on her blog she comes off perfectly clear. That Joisey accent is hardly noticeable. It is the daily stories of life with 6 people in a 7 room house that are real, honest and from the heart that makes you want to stay and get to know her and her family. (Even her husband Garth -not his real name.) Just don't bring up laundry of maker her use uppercase. She will go all Joisey on you.
On the topic of "Liz", take a jump over to Liz of Mom 101. She claims she doesn't know what she is doing either, but I am here to tell you a secret. She is totally lying to you. That woman has mad skillz. (She how hip & cool I am? I have teens, people.) Liz is on of the power houses behind Cool Mom Picks and Blog with Integrity. See? Total liar when she says she doesn't know what she is doing. Seriously, though, I adore her. She is smart, witty and truly cares about mom bloggers and making sure they don't sell themselves short. She and I have been friends since I first smacked a Mommybloggers tattoo on her at BlogHer. She knows her stuff. Don't let her tell you otherwise.
Of course, I cannot talk about Cool Mom Picks without talking about her partner in crime, Kristen Chase of Motherhood Uncensored. And she is definitely uncensored. She is the author of the book The Mominatrix's Guide to Sex. (It works. She's totally knocked up pregant but does not claim that it is a result of the book. It could be a side effect though.) She is a no-nonsense mom blogger who will tell it like it is, but with a heart of gold. She truly does want to see mombloggers show integrity with their words and deeds. She backs that as a co-founder of Blog with Integrity.
One of my early blogging friends and one that I spent hours late one night talking to at BlogHer is Izzymom. (I've spent many hours talking to her but that one late night has always stuck with me.) She is one of the sweetest mombloggers I know. Just look at any picture of her and see that smile. It is real. She means it when she smiles at you, laughs with you or talks to you. She is the real deal. She is all over the blogosphere but her first blog where I found her is the more mommyblogging type, Izzymom. Then, she decided that she wanted to write another post with her real name. (Though she will always be Izzy to me!) Her blog The Caffeinatrix was born. However, Izzymom is her home and that is where you will find her the most. (Ha! She has to admit it now...mommyblogging is in her blood!) Honestly, this woman will always have a special place in my heart. (And, hopefully soon a place on my blogs as the amazing designer she is!) Go say hi!
Once upon a time I knew a momblogger who went by some really long blog name like mothergoosemouse. That was old school Julie Marsh. She said she wanted to break free of labels and move forward. (And here I am touting what an amazing momblogging friend she is to me! My bad!) Today, she is known as the more kick ass, tell it like it is The Mom Slant. Still the same wonderful woman only with a new blog name. I have met very few people who can express herself with such conviction and authority yet never in a condescending or rude manner. She is true to herself, to her craft and to mombloggers as a genre. (And, you will will be hard pressed to find anyone who will be more loyal to you as Julie is to her friends--online and in real life. She, too, is a co-founder of Blog with Integrity. (Disclaimer: I am not being paid or urged or anything like that to link to Blog with Integrity so many times. I just happen to have kick ass blogging friends who happened to be co-founders. Just sayin'!)
I could never leave out one of the original Mommybloggers here, Jenny of Three Kid Circus. She brings the funny for sure. At one time she was the organizing maniac behind the scenes. We're the kind of friends who can go ages without talking and pick up right where we left off. (Hey, Jenny....call me!) I love this girl. Go read her. Now. Go on.
Now, never fear, I have many more of my old school friends and bloggers to talk about but I am exhausted and will finish tomorrow. I mean, digging through these archives and re-reading some old friends has been fun but OY so time consuming!
Come on back and find some new-old reads. And? If you want to join in, email me or leave a comment so I can add you, too!
